This coffee represents a rare trifecta of green bean perfection: traceable to producers in the Marcala region; organic farm management practices; and a meticulously standardized post-harvest process.
The Asociación de Productores Orgánicos Café Organico Marcala, S.A. (APROCOMSA) established the Finca Humana program. Their focus is the well-being of the individual, with an emphasis on educating more than 1,500 producer-members to live harmoniously with nature. Their innovative practice of using organic matter to effectively cultivate high-quality coffee is only part of what APROCOMSA teaches about the power of nature through the Finca Humana philosophy. The asociación also dedicates funding from the proceeds of coffee sales to run a pioneering International School devoted to educating young people and enabling them to become future leaders of Finca Humana.
Dried coffee is received at APROCOMSA’s dry-mill facility, located in Marcala, where it is cupped and selected by density and colour for export. They have a fully equipped cupping lab and several Q graders who check the coffee quality prior to shipping. The asociación ensures traceability and quality control throughout the post-harvest process, which is vital for establishing better prices for producers.
