Tasting Notes: Plum + Orange Marmalade + White Chocolate
This Ugandan coffee is your chance to support an all-women coffee collective named Friends of Mothers. Established in 2015, the group currently boasts 500 members with farms in the Mbale District on the slopes of Mount Elgon.
During harvest, each producer meticulously picks ripe cherries, sorts by hand, & floats the cherry to remove damaged & less dense coffee. The producer then uses their own micro-mill to depulp, ferment, & wash & dry the coffee before delivering it to the Friends of Mothers warehouse.
Friends of Mothers has its own dry mill facility which features a fully staffed cupping lab to ensure traceability & quality control throughout the post harvest process. They manage the certification process & help train producers on best organic practices. This includes using materials like coffee pulp to make organic fertilizers which creates an abundant source of plant nutrition that ensures better yields & quality.
ROASTMASTER NOTES:
Fair trade, organic, & produced by an all-women collective—what else do you need? How about outstanding quality in the cup. Expect a splash of juicy plum, followed by a tangy & sugary-rich orange marmalade body, & a wonderful white chocolate finish. This brew hits all the right notes—Uganda love this coffee!
